I first ran NY in 2005 and I am thrilled at the prospect of doing it again! This time together with the amazing Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation team - it's going to be awesome!
I love to run and I love a challenge. Running a marathon again is something I've wanted to do for a while. Following a serious knee injury I spent most of last year in rehabilitation and wasn't able to run for several months. I missed it like crazy and when this opportunity came up I felt like it was just meant to be!
And what's even better is that I'm not only running it for me this time - there is a stronger purpose.
As an early childhood educator having worked in disadvantaged communities both in Australia and internationally, I know how important physical activity is for a child's overall development and wellbeing. I also know how strongly the practice of sport can positively influence not only individual children but entire communities. And I believe that every child should be allowed the chance to live a healthy and happy life and to follow their dreams.
I am running for the Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation in support of their mission to develop spaces and programs that will give even the most disadvantaged children access to a wide range of sports and with it a chance to succeed.
Please help me help them and let's bring it on New York!!
